Annebet & Claude

I would love to say I had the time of my life shooting Annebet and Claude’s wedding, but I would be telling a wee little fib… And that’s a real pity because it was exactly the kind of day where I usually would have had an absolute ball. Now if you’re wondering why I would say such a thing, well let me tell you the story!
I had been looking forward to this wedding for a while. Even told The_Girlfriend how “I have a big feeling about this one”! This was going to be a fantastic opportunity to shoot some beautiful photos and after the e-session we did I had a real good idea of what would work. I got even more excited when I was told that Annebet and Claude had arranged for us to do the couple shoot at Altydgedacht. Score one more for my AWESOME couples! I nearly swooned like a schoolgirl at a Bieber concert! I had been wanting to shoot there FOREVER and now I was planning my assault on that little forest like it was Normandy.
But Murphy had some plans of his own! As luck would have it, I was struck down by a monster case of the flu during the week leading up to the wedding and it was building up to a nice climax by the time Saturday rolled by. I tried to self-medicate, rest up and spent the last part of the week just hoping for modern science to come up with a miracle cure! No such luck… By game day I was hopped up and buzzing on all manner of prescription drugs, vitamins and pretty much anything else I could lay my hands on, which included a few liters of Red Bull. Now there isn’t much you can do in a situation like this. You simply try to look normal and hope to hell that noone notices you scratching around in your bag for another hit of SinuMed like a tik addict… and shoot the heck outa everything that moves! yeeeehaaaaa!!! I was actually so out of it that I forgot the Stormers were playing the Bulls and anyone who knows me will tell you that is a sure indicator that I must have been unconscious. As it turns out, the Stormers lost and I lived to shoot another day.
The fact that I not only made it through the day but actually managed to enjoy it was entirely thanks to two awesome ladies… and their awesomeness knows no bounds! Firstly Annebet, who was probably the coolest, chillest, most relaxed and nicest bride I have had the pleasure of working with — and I have had a good long run of working with brides who are cooler than the other side of the pillow! And secondly Yolande Marx, who saved assisted me on the day and backed me up BIG TIME. Just knowing she was there made a huge difference and I was reminded why when I saw the shots she got. Brilliant!
So in the end it was a pretty hard day at the office, I won’t lie, but as is so often the case it was the most rewarding! Not only did I see two awesome people tie the knot, but turns out me and Yolande both got some stellar shots and I’ve loved every minute of working on them. To be fair though, it’s not entirely unexpected that the pics turned out great, seeing as Annebet looked an absolute vision on the day and the camera simply adores her. But still, I will go all the way out there and admit that these are some of my favorite wedding photos yet. I’ve been super excited to get them done and for Annebet to see and now I can finally post them! So without any further messing about — here they are! kindly have a gander and let me know what you think. I might not be able to remember much of the day, but hopefully Claude and Annebet will remember these moments forever — super cool people like them should always be happy!
YAY for pretty pics!
